Ellen Culver and her husband Max garden on nearly an acre near Bloomington. Raised bed vegetables, container gardens, succulents, perennials and a front-yard shade garden are among what Ellen admits may be too many gardens. Ellen became a Master Gardener in McLean County in 2011 and is active with the group’s educational programs at the historic Sarah’s Garden at the David Davis Mansion in Bloomington, gives presentations as part of the Speaker’s Bureau, loves working the Help Desk at Extension and is one of the Master Gardeners taking call-in questions on WJBC radio. Ellen became hooked on succulents a few years ago and now features them in many of her container gardens.
